Gone by Morning

It was a bright new day here

Children playing and birds singing

So small even opposites could hear

And then the phone starts ringing

She picks up and starts to cry

One by one

The room was finding space

And the luggage filling from base

Brother and I can’t relieve our eyes

For our home was losing its place

With confusion almost like illusion

All three were in air going somewhere

After a good thirteen hours

We landed unprepared

A little scared

It didn’t look like home

But it did have my dad waiting

We were finally all together

Giving hugs, saying “Hi”

But I didn’t get to say Goodbye.
