Roads are Obstacles

Roads are obstacles we all cross

Making a decision can come

Knowing it can change

Knowing how long I stood

And seeing how I could

Continue with this path

Making a difference in my life

It is not only me

Going through this

Having to go to college

Having that knowledge

On what’s right or wrong

Making this and having this done

No matter how hard life is

Take the step that can make a difference

This is my life.

  1. Your poem had a quite a bit of relevance for me. Going through the college search is rather daunting and this poem exemplified the chatter that accumulates as you begin the long path towards finally making the decision. You illustrated the seemingly obvious choice of picking a school, but below the surface is a much more difficult task to revel in. You communicated well the growing force the decision has as you peel back layers. The repetition of ‘knowing’ and also your title packed a ton of fantastic meaning in for me.

      Dear Andrew

I’m glad that the poem meant something for you and knowing that I can relate with others. Also the comment that you left for me that really meant a lot for me. Hope to hear more from you some other time. Once again, thank you.

  2. This is an excellent piece for Seniors like me who can really connect to it since we’re all facing major life decisions. I love the finality in the last line, it really brings the poem together with a definitive statement about regardless of the decisions we make, we have to live with them.
